World is Sound caught up with Japanese multi- instrumentalist Makoda at the Dance of Shiva festival (an ethno/electro trance festival) in Japan. He has been a main featured player on many of Makyo’s ethno dub releases from Dakini Records and has performed at festivals throughout Asia many times.
We checked out his crazy electronic Turkish saz and dug into his obsessive fascination with string instruments from around the world with a particular interest in those from the Middle East. Makoda, always the showman, gave us am awesome demo of his heavy metal saz technique complete with overdrive. Very awesome indeed!
